Harrisina americana is widespread in the eastern half of the United States, and southern Ontario (Canada). It is found along forest edges, in woodlands, and old fields. Small moths (wingspan 18-28 mm) with black narrow wings, and red or orange collar. Adults are diurnal and nocturnal, feeding on nectar. The larvae feed on leaves of the Vitaceae (Vitis and Parthenocissus spp.). This species flies from April-October; 2-3 generations per year in Florida.
